I was always looking for a type
I had specifics
But when i found you
On that lonely road
I realized i found someone better

And that road is my new  favorite place
And our story is my favorite love story
And you are my favorite person

You are ALL i could never
Imagine in my wildest dream.

A POEM: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

Right from when i was small
I always see dad beating mom
And i wonder why she never hits back

She was full of scars and fresh wounds
And she covers it when outside the house

She died few years later
I guess her body grew weak and
Got defeated by dads punch

And now i see myself
Beating my wife
The same way dad beats mum

But i don't want to be dad
And i don't want her to die as mom did.

Society says they only accept the skinny ones
So everyday i starve to be the size they want
But i became thinner than they expected
And now they say i caught some disease

Society taught me to be artificial
so i always go out with my face fully made up
I barely recognize myself in the mirror
And now they call me ugly
When am without makeup
Because the makeup made my beauty fade

Society taught me that i would be accepted
Only if i use a 24 Inches weave
And now am starting to get addicted to fake hair
But i realized they are accepting ladies with the natural hair now
I wonder how long they discard the Natural hair ladies

Weird enough
Society is us

I want to tell my stories
Stories of my boring life

I want to tell stories
Of my Imaginary life

So sometimes
 My stories could be sad
 My stories could be happy
 My stories could be hot
 My stories could be cold

It all depends on my mood.
It all depends on my imagination

If you haven't noticed,i have decided to start writing poems[Yippee].So keep this space.

Friday Quote

I know most times we talk without realizing how hurtful our words can be,Our intention might not be wrong but our words might be.
I was talking to someone that is very dear to me and i didn't realize when i said some hurtful words, clearly it wasn't my intention but she does not know that she only knows i hurt her with my words. As my friend would always say 'Your words and not your looks says much of who you are'.We should always think before speaking because the truth is we don't know what the other person might be going through and our words make them feel bad than they already are.

I still cant believe you left
It seems so surreal
You left without explanation
You should have given excuses

Now i will forever question what i did wrong
Now i will forever question where i went wrong
Now i will forever be weary of the word love

Do you miss me at all
Cos i still have you on my mind

I cant even hate you
Cos am thinking the fault is with me
Did i suffocate you with my love ?
I need at least a phone call from you,to explain
Where i went wrong

How It All Starts:Domestic Violence

I am trapped here
I'm just a furniture in your home.
I thought we shared something real and rare
I thought i had finally found love
So when you asked me to be with you forever
When you asked me to be yours
I readily accepted you and i hurriedly said
I do in the presence of God,Priest and guest

I never thought you wanted to own me
I never thought you wanted me as another
Prize you win and lock at home
Until i couldn't talk without being talked to
Until i had to agree with everything you have to say,
Even if it was wrong or I had a different opinion.

Then i saw your anger, once when i didn't make your food on time
You hit me so hard i fell and
It became a ritual/an everyday habit
that i always have a fresh wound on old scars

I couldn't leave,what would society say?
Why is she leaving her husband? he takes care of her
See all the nice dress she wears, her golds.
did she think there's husband outside
If some even knew he beats me,they would justify him
Saying maybe he's frustrated that he does not have a child yet
So he's taking it out on me
So i would leave out the part of  "how i had 3 miscarriage
due to his fist"

What will my parent say?
You have to bear it,when you start having children,
He would stop beating you
You are a married woman,it would be a disgrace to come back to your parent house
What do you want people to say?
We would be a laughing stock
So they would ask you to stay and promise to always Pray and remember you in their prayers

So with that you would go on living with him
Until that day he would beat you so bad
that before you are rushed to the hospital
you give up the ghost

Then your parents would wish they had taken you away when you cried to them
Society would realize the plight of women in a violent home
And you would wish you have thought about only yourself
And not about society/parent
And maybe you could have found someone better
Or you could have been single but ALIVE.

Domestic violence should be a capital offence, maybe men would realize that they could go into rings when they are frustrated and punch bags.
I know a 16 years old girl, she was telling me about her relationship issues and she told me that the people she dates and really like her always hitting her when they are angry[this guys range from 20-22]and i felt so bad for her because she had started seeing it as normal at that age but i tried my best to advise her.
I also see a wife beater material in a guy that beats his sister,am never for a parent to allow a senior brother beats his sister[except in a case that she did something really bad].Most guys they feel they can hit any girl because they hit their sister. There are some instances when i was in school and am arguing with a guy he gets annoyed and tells me am not his sister that he beats at home mate and am like thank God am not your sister.
I also think parent have a large role to play in teaching boys how to respect girls. They should never make them feel superior than the girls.

Love

I can see it
I can feel it
I can sense it

I see it in the tender and intense way you look at me
I feel it in the urgent but loving way you touch me
I can feel the love you have for me

A love so pure
A selfless love
You my lover make this love a beautiful story
Without you,I would never have felt love, never experience love
I would still be doubting if love ever existed
Or if it was just people's imagination to escape from the hell of a lonely life.

So I stand with you today,as I would stand by you forever
I take your hand's with a promise never to let go
I take your heart, cause I own it and give you mine to own.

Reflection

I look at my reflection
I see a different person staring at me
This is what I have been reduced to
Since you left me
I lost flesh
I lost strength
I lost my mind

I glance at old pictures
Although I was chubby, but I was happy
Although I was simple, but I felt beautiful.
Now am a shadow of some other person
Can't recognize myself in the mirror
Still trying to figure out,how it came to be

And for the countless time
I wished I had never met you.

Most time, people go through so much because their partner breaks up with them. You don't have to be the person in this story. You don't have to lose yourself. If they can't appreciate your sacrifice and love, let them go, you will find a better person.Don't feel depressed,he is not worth it.Get up,pray to God,Work on yourself to make a better you then the best will come to you.

Friday Quotes

So many of us has heard, seen and moved by this quote, but we never act on it.
You must be the change you want to see in the world. Many of us put blames on our leaders for not caring about citizens and its so obvious that most of us don't care about our neighbors who have less.We prefer to buy bags/material things worth million than to help a beggar.

       Mr A is living comfortably.
Everyday he passes his neighbor's room and can hear them grumbling about how hungry they are.He never cares neither does he help.Mr A becomes a political leader. What do you think will happen. He never cared about 1 neighbor, how will he care about million's suffering.

We should learn to be what we preach. We should learn to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

Let every moment you live be what you teach

The best leader the world has ever known are reformers who are accountable and responsible for their change.

Lastly,"to be the change we want to see in the world" means to know what is happening around us and to take powerful steps towards constructing the life and world of our dreams.Seeing the change we want to happen will take much of our effort of wanting, choosing, and commingling your actions to stand for what is right.

Not Again!!! Another Terrorism Attack

I walk with fear,i caution myself when talking.I am scared i might say the right thing to the wrong people, and i would be attacked.I want to speak on the attacks in recent times. The religion extremist that hide behind a religion[Islam] because they know most people don't understand Islam but have just accepted it.
So these coward hide behind it and do evil things all in the name of Allah.Since they believe him to be a powerful God,why cant they let him fight himself ?.But to be honest i don't understand what they are fighting for or against. As Flannery O'Connor Quote says "You have to quit confusing madness with mission".Where is our humanity, you go around killing children, men women without conscience,no love for your fellow human.
I guess tolerance as a very large role to play in today's society,we should be able to tolerate each other despite our religion, opinion, because we are all different. We should also love our neighbor as we love ourselves.I fear for the young generation, because they will take this attack as a norm,My heart goes out to everyone who has lost a loved one in terrorism attacks.we should all work together to curb terrorism, because terrorism is not a problem against a particular society,It is against HUMANITY.So now is not the time to point out fingers at Muslims. Its the time to teach our-selves  the true meaning of Love,Right from Wrong,Tolerance and let Allah fight for himself if there must be a fight.
I pray for countries that have been affected by this attacks,I also pray for these religion extremist,i pray God make them see all they are doing in the name of religion is wrong and barbaric, and no human deserve the pain they inflict on them.

Lets love one another
it goes a long way
lets know whats right from what is wrong
and do what is right at all time

i know is right to love my neighbor
that i would always do,i hope you do that too
i know its wrong to kill
so the holy books says
so i would not take any life with my deeds, talks or actions.

lets tolerate one another
it helps in times of crises
though we might differ in religion
we still have to stand as one
because at the end of the day
we only have ourselves
so lets stand together.

FRIDAY QUOTES

No matter who we are,how old we are or where we are from.We all share a common goal to be successful. However our definition of success may differ. We all want to have a successful life-drive a nice car, build houses, excel at what we do.But we don't want to work towards achieving success,we all want it on a platter of gold without working for it.
To achieve success you have to put in hard work, and learn from our mistake. We should not allow failure bring us down.Define your success and work towards it.“I wish I was that successful”, “When will I reach that success?” Stop considering success from a point of view where success is different from you as an individual, and is merely something you hope to attain one day.
After I learned these tricks, I have always felt happy and inspired to do more. Instead of searching for some distant success, search for success in your day-to-day life—find success with the smallest bits of work that help you reach your goal. Then stay committed to those habits and strive to live them daily.

FRIDAY QUOTE

The biggest Mistake you can ever make in life,is to be scared to start all over.It could be a Relationship,Work,Project,Relocation.A friend of mine was in a relationship for 3 years with a guy that didn't care about her,but she was so into the relationship that the thought of starting over scared her.she just had to stay. But when she left, she said she felt so much self worth that was lost while she accepted those bullshit in the relationship.
Starting all over can help you learn how to love yourself better and be happy as an individual.

STEPS TO TAKE WHEN STARTING ALL OVER

Talk to  God.When everything seems so difficult and you are @ a crossroad, talk to him.Let him be your motivation.

Don't hesitate to act.Don't say its too late to start all over, because the truth is no matter the time you start your journey, you should only focus on your goal of getting there.

Know that you will definitely face critic, they would wonder why you are giving everything up.Don't let them win you over by talks or discourage you,If you are sure its the right path to take.

Always Remember that to start all over is a GIFT,not everybody gets the chance to do so.I pray none of us take the gift of starting all over for granted.

4 SEFI ATTA
   EVERYTHING GOOD WILL COME

Everything Good Will Come tells the story of Enitan, a young Nigerian woman growing up in her native homeland coping with the demands of the patriarchal society that encompasses her. Enitan is raised in a divided home struggling to identify herself in the midst of her mother’s strong religious beliefs and her father’s manipulative political ways. Due to her being an only child and the death of her brother, her parents have strict demands that restrict her from having a normal childhood. Her rebellious nature is first seen when she defies her mother’s wishes and leaves the house on Sundays to play with the girl next door, Sheri, who is considered “yellow” because her father is Muslim and her mother is a white English woman. Sheri is a sassy young girl sassy with a rebellious nature, constantly testing those around her, while craving the attention of any male. Their friendship builds as they continue to defy Enitan’s mother by seeing each other. The girls are soon forced to separate; Enitan is sent to a school abroad to receive a better education than that offered in Lagos. Her father, an educated lawyer, wants the best for her and hopes she will take over his firm once she has finished school and proves herself as a lawyer. Sheri and Enitan keep in touch, writing letters back and forth about school, boys, and when they will meet again. During a holiday visit home, Enitan and Sheri meet up and go to a party. Enitan, who doesn’t feel comfortable in the situation, wants to leave. On her way out, she witnesses the three men pinning Sheri down raping her and bruising her body as they degrade her. The image of Sheri’s rape affects Enitan’s ability to allow herself to trust men. The aftermath of Sheri’s rape leads to a partial termination of their friendship and Sheri being sent to the hospital due to an attempt to give herself an abortion.
Years pass and Enitan returns to Lagos to stay with her father and work under him to start her career as a lawyer. She begins dating a struggling artist, Mike, and has an emotionally complex but short-lived relationship with him. Enitan runs into Sheri one afternoon and reconnects with her. Sheri is a mistress to a Muslim brigadier, who pays for her living and gives Sheri a good life. Sheri believes in playing the system rather than settling down with a man because she is aware of the lack of individualism a woman receives once she becomes married in their society.
Enitan gradually becomes closer with a man called Niyi Franco, who is separated from his only child who was taken away by his ex-wife when they moved to Britain. This relationship quickly becomes a marriage. Enitan at first feels comfort and safety in Niyi’s arms, but their relationship is soon tested when she refuses to submit to his demanding ways and struggles to conceive and carry a child. After she becomes pregnant, Niyi and Enitan's differences over each other's behavior and expectations build. In addition to the stress from her failing marriage, her father’s political outspokenness and subsequent arrest forces her into activism and results in a night in jail. Enitan joins a group of women in the fight against the government for women’s rights during her pregnancy. Her drive for change is frowned upon by her husband, who wants her to stay at home and take on “women-like” tasks. Niyi’s lack of support for his wife’s beliefs, along with her unwillingness to concede to his requests, leads to their separation. Enitan continues to stand up for what she believe: wanting women to have the ability to choose whether or not they will be submissive in society with hopes for individuality.
5.CATHERINE COOKSON
THE BLACK CANDLE

Yorkshire in the 1880's: Joe Skinner marries Lily Whitmore, the woman he has long admired, to give a name to her illegitimate child by Lionel Fillmore, the opportunistic son of an impoverished aristocrat. Lionel, however, has his sights set on Victoria, the naive cousin of hard-working Bridget Mordaunt, and the wealth he wrongly assumes is hers. When Joe's shiftless brother Fred threatens his marriage plans, Lionel murders him and the blame falls on Joe. Bridget's warm regard for Joe sets her on a quest to prove his innocence, the pursuit of which reveals the sordid manipulations and evil that surround Lionel. Just when Lionel believes his crime will never be discovered, Douglas, his gentle sculptor brother finds the murder weapon---and the killer's identity

6.KATE LONG
THE BAD MOTHER'S HANDBOOK

The Bad Mother's Handbook is the story of a year in the lives of Charlotte, Karen and Nan, none of whom can quite believe how things have turned out. Why is it all so difficult? Why do the most ridiculous mistakes have the most disastrous consequences? When are you too old to throw up in a flowerbed after too much vodka? When are you too young to be a mother? Both hilarious and wise, it is a clear-eyed look at motherhood - and childhood - in its many guises, from the moment the condom breaks to the moment you file for divorce or, more optimistically, from the moment you hear your baby's first cry to the moment you realize that there are as many sorts of mother as there are children, and that love sometimes is the most important thing of all

7.JANE GREEN
JEMIMA.JONES

Jemima Jones is a clever, good-hearted, but self-depreciating columnist for a small newspaper in England. She envies her slim, glamorous coworker Geraldine, and resents her two likewise slim flatmates, who frequently mock her for her size. She has a large crush on Ben, the office hunk, but due to her weight she feels embarrassed to approach him.
When her office finally gets internet access, Jemima begins visiting chatrooms and develops a long-distance relationship with a handsome gym owner named Brad from Santa Monica, California. At the same time, Ben leaves the newspaper for a television position, leaving Jemima alone with a broken heart.
To get over Ben, Jemima throws herself into her online relationship with Brad and re-invents herself as "JJ", an attractive newsreader. Her friends further the false identity by photoshopping Jemima's face onto a thin, attractive model. After seeing her photo, Brad immediately invites her to visit California and stay at his home. Jemima impulsively accepts the invitation and finds herself forced to lose over one hundred pounds in three months in order to match the image of "JJ." As Jemima slims down, Geraldine takes the role of her fairy godmother, buying Jemima a whole new wardrobe, coloring her hair, and teaching her how to use make-up.
Having lost the weight, Jemima goes to California and is met by Brad, who takes her to his impressive Santa Monica home. Soon, however, she begins to realize that the glamorous life in California isn't all it's cracked up to be. Jemima and Brad turn out to be incompatible in every way except physically. Jemima is soon lonely and disenchanted.
To distract herself, Jemima throws herself into exercising and soon becomes dangerously underweight. She quickly realizes her new found obsession with thinness is as unhealthy as her former obesity, and comes to the conclusion that her obesity was a cover for lifelong insecurity issues that are still present even though she is now thin.
The final straw comes when Jemima, while cleaning Brad's apartment, accidentally discovers a huge stash of fat fetish pornography. She confronts Brad, who confesses that he is very attracted to larger women but needs a slim, attractive girlfriend in order to keep up appearances in beauty-conscious Santa Monica. Jemima, upset and horrified at the betrayal, leaves.
By happenstance, Jemima learns that Ben has become a minor celebrity and is, at the moment, on a trip to California. Jemima rushes to meet him. Ben, who has not seen Jemima since her transformation, barely recognizes her, but the two quickly realize that their feelings go far deeper than appearances. The two return to England and start a relationship. Jemima is happy, lets go of her body issues, and learns to love herself for who she is.
CATHERINE COOKSON
THE BLACK VELVET GOWN

There would be times when Riah Millican came to regret that her husband had learned to read and write, and then shared his knowledge with her and their children.  For this was Durham in the 1830's, when employers tended to regard the spread of education with suspicion.  But now Seth Millican was dead and she was a widow with the need to find a home and a living for herself and her children.

The chance of becoming a housekeeper didn't work out, but it led to Moor House and a scholarly recluse obsessed with that very book learning that could open so many doors and yet create so many problems; especially with her daughter, Biddy, who was not only bright, but witful...

THE BLACK VELVET GOWN is the story of a mother and daughter, often at odds with each other, facing the need to challenge and fight the prejudice of an age--a narrative of great power and diversity that is one of Catherine Cookson's major achievements.

9.LAUREN WELSBERGER
THE DEVIL WEAR'S PRADA

Andrea Sachs, a recent graduate of Brown University with a degree in English, moves to New York City with her best friend, Lily, a graduate student at Columbia. Andrea hopes to find a career in publishing and blankets the city with her résumé. She believes she'll be closer to her dream of working for The New Yorker if she can get a job in the magazine industry. She gets a surprise interview at the Elias-Clark Group and is hired as junior assistant for Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine Runway. Although she knows little of the fashion world, everyone tells her that "a million girls would die for [her] job". If she manages to work for Miranda for a year, people tell her, she can have her choice of jobs within the magazine industry.
At a celebrity party, Andrea meets Christian Collinsworth, a charismatic Yale graduate who is considered one of the hot, new up-and-coming writers of their generation. They are attracted to each other, which complicates her relationship with her boyfriend, Alex.
Andrea's relationships become entangled because of her new job. Lily increasingly turns to alcohol and picks up dubious men to relieve the pressure of graduate school. Alex, struggling with his own demanding job as an inner-city schoolteacher, grows frustrated with Andrea's long hours and constant stress. Andrea's relationship with her family also suffers. Matters finally come to a head when her co-worker, Emily, gets mononucleosis and Andrea must travel to Paris with Miranda in her stead. Andrea agrees, although this means canceling a long-awaited trip with Alex to a Brown University reunion at the Biltmore Providence Hotel.
In Paris, she has a surprise encounter with Christian. Later that night, Miranda finally lets down her guard and asks Andrea what she has learned, and where she wants to work afterwards. She promises to place phone calls to people she knows at the New Yorker on Andrea's behalf once her year is up and suggests she take on some small writing assignments at Runway.
Back at the hotel, Andrea gets urgent calls from Alex and her parents asking her to call them. She does and learns that Lily is IN coma after driving drunk and wrecking a car. Though her family and Alex pressure her to return home, she tells Miranda she will honor her commitment to Runway. Miranda is pleased, and says her future in magazine publishing is bright, but phones with another impossible demand at Christian Dior's Paris fashion show. Andrea decides that her family and friends are more important than her job, and realizes to her horror that she is becoming more and more like Miranda. She refuses to comply with Miranda's latest outrageous request, and when Miranda scolds her publicly, Andrea replies, "Fuck you, Miranda. Fuck you". She is fired on the spot, and returns home to reconnect with friends and family. Her romantic relationship with Alex is beyond repair, but they remain friends. Lily recovers and is lucky to receive only community service for her DUI charge.
In the last chapter Andrea learns her dispute with Miranda made her a minor celebrity when the incident made "Page Six". Afraid she has been blacklisted from publishing for good, she moves back with her parents. She works on short fiction and finances her unemployment with profits made from reselling the designer clothing she was provided for her Paris trip. Seventeen buys one of her stories. At the novel's end, she returns to the Elias-Clark building to discuss a position at one of the company's other magazines and sees Miranda's new junior assistant, who looks as harried and put-upon as she once did.
10.JOHN GRISHAM
THE TESTAMENT

Troy Phelan, an eccentric elderly billionaire, has written many wills during his life, but right before he dies by suicide, he leaves one final will, a holographic will, as a last surprise. He then leaps from a balcony to his death. He leaves his vast fortune to an illegitimate daughter, Rachel Lane, instead of his six children by three marriages. Her existence comes as a total surprise to everyone. His reason is revulsion over years of fighting with, and embarrassment from, his family, as well as their greed — much of which was due to his neglect of his children and multiple affairs (both personal and business).
His lawyers are now tasked with protecting Troy's wishes as well as finding the heiress. Nate O'Riley, a high-powered litigation lawyer and now recovering alcoholic, is sent to Brazil, where Rachel is believed to be living as a missionary.
While Nate is trying to find Rachel, Troy's family does everything in their power to contest the new will. They argue that although Troy was examined by three of the top psychiatrists in the nation, he was lacking sanity at the time of the new will.
The journey into the Pantanal of South America by way of Corumbá nearly kills Nate, but finally he and his guide locate the tribe with which Rachel Lane is living. She refuses the legacy or anything connected with it. Nate is unable to convince her otherwise, and returns to the United States after contracting dengue fever from a mosquito.
In the meantime, the ex-wives, children and respective lawyers continue attempting to destroy and disprove all evidence of Troy Phelan's sanity and even the will itself. They finally decide not to contest the will in court, fearing that their testimony during the deposition will further hurt their case. They also realize that two witnesses for the plaintiff are lying and would be torn to shreds by Nate should a trial ever take place. To settle the matter, Nate agrees that the relatives of Troy Phelan will be paid $50 million each (minus lawyers' fees) to stop turning the will contest into a legal quagmire.
When all is over, Nate returns to the jungle in order to get Rachel to sign off on the settlement, but when he arrives he learns that Rachel has died from malaria. She has, however, left instructions that the money be put into trust for the benefit of the indigenous peoples and that Nate will have control of the trust. The end of the book shows Nate riding off in a boat into the Pantanal, not caring if it took a month to get back to civilization.

THERE IS MORE TO RAPE,THAN WHAT THE MEDIA IS LETTING ON.

Recently,I was talking to a friend about rape, and we both had experiences that made me understand that almost every lady had experienced attempted rape[if not the actual rape].
WHAT IS RAPE?
The act of forcing sexual intercourse upon another person without their consent or against their will.
Many ladies experience rape they have never heard about, never seen in a movie or the ones they don't know exist.why?Because the media has portrayed rape to be something done with you, with a knife to your throat or a gun to your head in a dark place.
Most rape cases are not physically violent, they involve much deceptive tactics. The victims are coerced, manipulated, tricked and pressured into doing the will of the predator, when they don't want to and when they firmly say NO.
Rape doesn't have to be committed by a stranger, due to research 80% of rapes are carried out by someone you know,it could be your husband, boyfriend, friend, relative or co-worker.some people don't even know when it occurs.I know of a lady that was raped in her home by a friend.

According to her:He started touching and making uncomfortable talk,he pushed me until he got what he wanted,i kept telling him NO but that didn't stop him.I cried while it happened,i pleaded but he kept going. He made me feel like i was over-reacting.He convinced me that i made the choice to have sex with him, that it was a mistake we both made.He won me over, the same way society would ask me why i invited a man home and why i didn't have bruises to go with my allegation.

We have to make society see that there is more to rape[The unthinkable and Unspeakable] by empowering people with our stories/experiences.There is no such thing as convincing or talking someone into having sex.We have to judge the rapist not the victim.

Hey guys!! Hope your week has been Terrific.I have decided to Put up quotes on Fridays
I hope this quotes motivates you.So back to the quote

Many of us are so scared to accept our flaws that we go into relationship for the wrong reason and those relationship in the long run suffer,You cant give what you don't have. You have to love yourself before you can love someone else.Do you realize you attract what you are.".Strive to be in a relationship in which both parties have discovered themselves independently. Trying to find this clarity from someone else will lead to a downward spiral of inconsistent contentment."

So with that being said,I hope you always remember and work on how to love yourself.
